Radiotherapy is a fundamental step in the treatment of breast cancer patients. The treatment efficiency is however reduced by the possible onset of radiation resistance. In order to develop the effective treatment approach, it is important to understand molecular basis of radiosensitivity in breast cancer. The purpose of the present study was to investigate different radiation response of breast cancer cell lines, and find out if this response may be related to change in the microRNAs expression profile. MDA-MB-231 and T47D cells were subjected to different doses of radiation, then MTT and clonogenic assays were performed to assess radiation sensitivity. Cytofluorometric and western blot analysis were performed to gain insight into cell cyc

Abstract
In foundries, various ores are used. Genotoxic assessment of ore-particles was the important aim of this study. In this regard, Ferrochromium, Ferrosilicon, Ferromanganese, and graphite were collected from an iron-casting industry. Also, the analysis has been performed by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) and Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The effective particle doses for A549-cells and genetic damages were evaluated using MTT and comet assay, respectively. The analysis indicated that, the samples contain Cr, Al, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn, Ni, Pb, and SiO2. Ferrosilicon was known as the highest toxic ore. Ore particles significantly induced DNA breaks (p < 0.01) in a dose-dependent manner. A mixtu

Abstract Theranostic metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising agents for cancer therapy and diagnosis. Herein, Fe3O4@ALA-Zn MOF was prepared and evaluated as an efficient therapeutic and diagnostic agent against brain cancer. Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe NPs) were initially synthesized and then coated with MOF constructed with 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and Zinc ions to form a core–shell nanostructure. The prepared system was characterized by FTIR, PXRD, SEM, TEM and EDX analyses confirming formation of the spherical magnetic ALA-based MOFs having average size of about 30?nm. The results of the cytotoxic assay demonstrated that Fe3O4@ALA-Zn MOFs possessed higher toxicity against C6 cancerous cells than HFF

Four new N,N‐bis(diphenylphosphino)amine ligands (where amine = 1‐amino‐4‐methylpiperazine (L1), N‐aminophthalimide (L2), 4‐aminomorpholine (L3) and hydrazine dihydrochloride (L4)) and their Pt(II) complexes C1, C2, C3 and C4 were synthesized and characterized using infrared and NMR spectroscopies. The crystal structures of C1, C2 and C3 were determined using single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction techniques. The antitumour activities of the synthesized complexes determined using MTT assay on MDA‐MB‐231 cell line revealed that the studied complexes, especially C2, significantly suppressed the proliferation of these cancer cells in a dose‐ and time‐dependent manner (e.g. at a complex concentration of 100 μg ml−1, in 24 h

Abstract
Studies have confirmed that on the ground, the plant cells must expend energy to maintain positional homeostasis against gravity. Under microgravity conditions, such energy may be saved for other process such as biosynthesis of beneficial metabolites for growth. This hypothesis was examined on a cell line of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum cv. Burley 21). The cells were continuously treated with 2-D clinostat for 1 week. Exposure to clinorotation conditions increased biomass and total protein. Total content of soluble sugar also increased which may provide more precursors for Krebs cycle and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production. In the case of 2-D clinorotation, the expression and activity of glutamate producing enzyme, glutamate dehydrogenas

Abstract
Purpose: In this study, the effects of different intensities of Static Magnetic Fields (SMFs) (10, 15 and 25 mT) and different concentrations of cisplatin drug were investigated on the viability percent and IC50 of the A2780 and A2780-CP cell lines at 24, 48 and 96 h to show useful potential of SMF as a physical agent to enhance the effectiveness of common therapeutic approaches and decrease of drug resistance to cisplatin anticancer drug.Materials and methods: Magnetic field exposure was performed using a locally designed generator. The cell viability percent, IC50 and cisplatin uptake in treated cells were evaluated by MTT assay and inductively coupled plasma (ICP), respectively. Results: Increasing of concentration and time of cisplat
